Royal Bank of Scotland at Wimbledon

So, after Sir Fred the Shred and the Government bailing the bank out you would assume they would learn how to do deal with our money?

Oh no, they've gone and spent £300,000 on one suite at Wimbledon but so ashamed of it they asked for all of the signage to be removed!

In the London Evening Standard a RBS spokeswoman said - the deal was a long-standing agreement and insisted it was customers rather than staff who were using the lounge.

Are you a RBS customer and did you get an invite?

Vince Cable MP said: "RBS executives simply don't understand or care that they are a publicly owned bank using taxpayers' money"

"While small businesses are being squeezed and depositors are getting a very bad deal top management is splashing around public money in this outrageous self-indulgent way. The tradition of Sir Fred Goodwin lives on".

Spot on Vince and shame on Royal Bank of Scotland!

Mobile phones for 4 year olds

Oh my god, get a grip parents of Britain!

I'm sorry, children under 13 really don't need a mobile phone in my opinion, and other than peer pressure shouldn't even be asking for one.

BBC News this morning said that in a survey even 4 year olds had them. Why? To ring the Nanny? To order nappies from the supermarket?

Come on people let's have some sanity back in the discussion here, a 4 year old baby or child does not need a phone, nor a car nor a rail or bus pass.

Teenagers I get the arguments for, although I still don't think they need the latest models etc, its a safety issue and that's fine.

Ban mobiles for babies though!

The timetable for the election of the new Speaker of the House of Commons

9.30am: Nominations opened. Each nomination must have a minimum of 12
signatories and a maximum of 15. Three of the signatories must be from parties other than that of the candidate.

10.30am: Nominations closed.

11am: List of Candidates was published.

11.30am: Father of the House Alan Williams draws lots to decide the
order of the statements.

2.30pm: The House sits. The Prime Minster announces that he has received
leave from the Queen for the House to elect a new Speaker. Mr Williams invites all candidates to address the House in the order of the draw. Candidates will be allowed to speak for between 5-10 minutes.

After the speeches, the House will proceed to the first secret ballot. Ballots will be open for 30 minutes. Members can vote for only one candidate. Estimated counting time is one hour. Mr Williams will announce the result in the Chamber.

If any candidate receives more the 50% of the votes cast, Mr Williams will put the questions to the House that the candidate be invited to take the Chair.

If there is no candidate with more than 50%, the candidate who came last; any candidate with less that 5% of the vote; or any candidates who decides to withdraw within ten minutes of the vote will be removed.

Successive ballots will be held until only one candidate remains or until one candidate has achieved 50% of the vote. The proposal that the candidate should take the Chair will be put to the House. If this proposal is rejected by the House, the House will be adjourned until the following day and a new ballot held.

If the proposal is accepted by the House, the candidate will then be pulled 'reluctantly' to the Chair as Speaker-elect.

The Speaker-elect than attends the House of Lords to receive the Queen's
approbation from the Royal Commission in the Lords.

Electing the new Speaker

Oh my god, does the Labour Party never learn?

The reason the Speaker Michael Martin was forced to resign was because the public have lost faith in our political system.

So why over this weekend do the Labour Whips and Business Managers think it is acceptable to try and whip the votes for one of the ten candidates for the new Speaker?

Simply, it isn't and the people concerned should be ashamed of themselves.

There is a process in place to elect the new Speaker and the voting will start at 2.30pm today, so let's see who wins and then let's ensure the urgently needed reform begins.

I don't just mean the reform on expenses, there's other things needed like a creche, improved catering with subsidies for staff (not MPs) as most are not on great salaries and the main one is that the Palace of Westminster be required to comply fully with Health & Safety legislation - it is currently exempt as it is a working Palace! I kid you not.

I don't have a preferred candidate for Speaker this time round, but I'm not overly impressed with the line up.

Queen's Birthday Honours List

So, my little sister's boyfriend gets a Royal Victorian Medal in this years Birthday Honours List, after 16 years of continuous service a well deserved recognition, I know how hard he works so well done Sir John lol. Seriously though, well done.

Bizarrely, it is also my sisters birthday today so a double celebration, but no, it's a triple celebration as he is also getting a Police Commendation for tackling a robber during an armed robbery, as in his spare time (!) he is a Special Constable.

So, as well as being very proud of John and Jenny I am also disappointed that Bruce Forsyth was yet again missed off the list.

Come on people, Brucie deserves this.

Whoops - no candidate but lets leaflet.....

So, In Monifieth & Sidlaw ward in Angus Council is currently holding a by-election following the tragic death of the SNP Councillor.

Labour found a candidate but didn't notice that they lived in another Council area so are ineligible to stand.

However, as you can see from the BBC website, they are delivering a leaflet, they've spelt their own leader's name wrong and the other Leader, Gordon Brown is in meltdown.

So, this is a three way fight between the SNP, Scottish Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.

Dopey Labour, from one bad day to another, and another and so on

UKIP Cry Babies

I have never laughed so much as I did yesterday when I heard that UKIP voters had to actually ask where they were on the ballot paper?

When you read this on the BBC website you get my drift.

Honestly, if you cannot see the Party name you can ask the staff in the polling stations, or look at the blown up ballot papers or....learn the alphabet and look for it.

Nigel Farage will use any publicity he can and again that's what he has doen with this.

What a load of nonsense.

Apologies to my readers

Somewhat busy at the moment with electioneering;

Tories - too busy cleaning their own moats and chandaliers now.

Labour - too busy checking mortgage statements and latest resignations.

SNP - too busy breaking more election promises!

Liberal Democrats - campaigning for every vote, putting forward arguments in Europe and standing up to Europe while working with them.

Vote Liberal Democrats tomorrow, polls open at 7am and will close at 10pm.
