Should Luciana Berger MP stayed on air with Kelvin MacKenzie?

Controversial Labour MP, Luciana Berger has hit the headlines once again for her lack of knowledge about Liverpool - the very city she represents!

This time Luciana was invited to participate on BBC Radio Five on Sunday night, but apparently she had no prior knowledge of who was to participate alongside her until she arrived at the studio.

So, when she knew Kelvin MacKenzie, the former tabloid editor who was responsible for infamous slurs against Liverpool FC fans following the Hillsborough disaster and still today remains a despised figure on Merseyside.


Within minutes Luciana Berger was being attacked on twitter for not walking out of the studio, rather than staying and debating ghosts with him (must be the Halloween link).

So, where do you stand on this, should the new MP for Wavertree, Luciana Berger have walked out of the BBC Five Live studio when she realised it was going to be sharing a panel with Kelvin MacKenzie, or did she do the right thing and stay?

I realise the hurt people went through after Hillsborough, but has enough water flowed under the bridge for the good scousers of Liverpool to forget what Kelvin MacKenzie said following that tragic day?

The Liberal Democrats Conference in Liverpool was a disaster

for the majority of the 1,500+ journalists who attended.

Hundreds and hundreds of the journalists who turned up in Liverpool, whether they were in the conference hall, the stunning exhibition, the many bars or even trying to sneak into the member only training were there to report on the great divide in the Party.

Unfortunately for them, it never existed and to be honest, I don't think it ever will in the way the media want.

One senior journalist said to me on Wednesday morning, "there have been some grumbles though".  As I then replied, how does a few grumbles equate to the masses of column inches that appeared throughout the week.

I think journalism is an art, but many now report their opinion rather than the news.

As I was at conference this year as the Exhibition Manager and running the VIP tours and lounge, I spoke to many if not all the exhibitors and the message was the same, if you read the newspapers you assumed you were at an entirely different conference.

One of the commercial exhibitors, who I won't name as they are at other Party conferences as well said that she was "appalled by the complete rubbish the papers were writing", especially on the alleged splits which just simply did not exist in the way you read about.

Overall, a great conference, in fact one of the busiest I have ever attended, certainly the one with the best atmosphere ever and to be honest the one I have been the busiest at, lots of working not a lot of socialising.

James Parkes, his partner and friends had been for a night out on Sunday and as they left a club in Stanley Street, in the heart of Liverpool's gay community, he was set upon by a group of between thirteen and twenty thugs, yes thugs and bloody cowards, aged only 14 to 17 who beat him so much he has a fractured skull and cheekbone and fighting for his life in hospital.

What was James' crime last Sunday - nothing more than the fact he is gay!

James is just 22, and a trainee police officer and just starting out at the beginning of an exciting career.

Just 22, and attacked by thirteen thugs, for crying out loud, the guy did nothing wrong and what will happen to these thugs when they are caught, if anything? Let us hope the British Justice system gets it right, it often doesn't.

Thankfully there was CCTV there so let us hope the Police can catch all of these morons.

I still question what their parents knew of there whereabouts, I was lucky growing up, my Mum was very disciplined in what time I should be home, knowing where I was and who I was with - and god help me if she caught me out lol, which she did every time, up to the age of 18.

Do I regret it? Not one little bit.

So to the parents of Liverpool, ask yourself this question, where were your kids on Sunday night, did they come home with any blood on them or their clothes, think back, did they give some weird reason why they had a little blood on them?

What about the next day at school, did anyone hear someone boasting about this?
