Scottish Round Up and blogging

When I think back to 15th May 2007 when I asked Will Howells to set this blog up, I never thought that I would ever get the high number of people that now regularly read my blog, some even daily or that I would ever get to do anything like guest editor for Scottish Roundup as I have done this week.

I used to joke on the blog about both my readers but as I go round the UK to different events whether it be family, meetings or work I always get people coming up to me saying I read your blog, I really enjoy the mix of stories.

In 2007 I blogged just 32 times, 2008 saw a five fold increase in postings to 153, and now in 2009 I have already blogged 246 times, 247 if you count this one.

The topics I have blogged about are as varied as you like as well, mostly politics, whether my passion and support for the Liberal Democrats and the Scottish Liberal Democrats or the gay politics, or my general musings of and on the world.

I hope you do continue to enjoy reading the blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

Will Howells sings about Derren Brown

As you may have heard by now Derren Brown was predicting the lottery balls on Wednesday, like many people I thought it was a load of pish as it obviously cannot be done.

Will Howells set this blog up for me and now he is a true phenomenon in his own right, comedian, singer and a Doctor Who fan so - take it away Will.

Around the world in just a few clicks

I now use google analytics and site meter to see who visits my blog, firstly thank you to all of you who visit my blog, whether it be for one off visits or whether you are now one of my regular readers.

I want to mention some of the countries where some of my visitors are from - all over the UK, India, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Vietnam, Canada, Iceland, Australia, Belgium, Kuwait and the USA.

Wow, my little blog that started with me, Will Howells and Steve Jolly. It then picked up some of my friends and former colleagues and some of Roger's friends and colleagues and now has international readers - fantastic and thank you all.

My blog makes it onto another stat chart

I never really thought my blog would get read by quite as many people as it does, not just politically but just the every day stuff.

So, I get quite excited when it makes it onto things like Iain Dale's top 40 Scottish blogs (in at number 36), and then when it gets a mention in the Scottish round up, but today I finally made it, when I made it onto Will Howells blog - No Geek is an Island - because if it wasn't for Will I wouldn't be blogging.

Will set my blog up - so Will, thank you and I can take my little bit of credit for those folk who go to Will's blog from mine.
