Labour and the Unions are hypocrites on the cuts within the CSR

Yesterday morning I had been at the Scottish Liberal Democrats HQ attending a meeting.  Afterwards I headed down Princes Street and was passing when some of the speeches to the massed protesters (not 20,000 at this point, nearer 2,000) were taking place.

I have never heard so many hypocrites, one after another.  All the union spokespeople were complaining bitterly that their members will be affected in one way or another by the outcomes of the Comprehensive Spending Review.

I am all for the unions standing up for their members rights.

What galls me is the sheer hypocrisy of it though.  None of these unions were lambasting Labour in the last thirteen years for spending money like it was going out of fashion, were they?

Not one union leader has complained about Labour plunging the UK into debt over recent years?

How come all of the union leaders and members are happy that the UK is spending £120 million, per day just on the interest on the amount the previous Labour government borrowed?

Sorry guys, but you laughed at Vince Cable and the Liberal Democrats when they pointed out to you that Labour's borrowing was getting out of hand.

Now you sit back and have jumped on the bandwagon to complain about the cuts, yet you remain completely silent about the positive aspects of the CSR.

I am sorry but the Labour politicians and union leaders are nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites.

The irony of Union leaders calling for strike action

Earlier in the week the Taxpayer's Alliance released the salaries of 38 Union leaders accusing them of hypocrisy when shouting out about public sector cuts and the unions retaliated saying the Taxpayers' Alliance was "a secretive, self-appointed, right-wing front" that stood up for the rich.

The RMT in their typical tradition just launched a personal scathing attack on the Taxpayer's Alliance.
A spokesman for the RMT said the Taxpayers' Alliance should publish its own accounts.

"Their chief officer, who has launched this laughable attack on the trade union movement, has never been elected by anyone in his life," he said.

"They wouldn't understand the concept of internal democracy if it bit them on the backside.

"The Taxpayers' Alliance is nothing more than a secretive, self-appointed, right-wing front and why anyone takes them seriously is a total mystery."
Ignoring the RMT attack, looking at a slightly different angle which is an argument I have had for years, it isn't the level of their salaries I am angry with, it is the fact that if one of their members is on strike, they don't get paid.

However, the Union leader still claims their salary and this has been going on for years and years, it is in fact why I stood down as a NALGO shop steward as I was at the tender age of 17 and 18.

Ironic or hypocritical?

Why do they not lead by example and perhaps when their members are on strike they donate their day's wages to a charity?

Perhaps then no-one would begrudge the Union Leaders their large salaries.

Oh, Mr Crow if you stopped threatening strikes every five minutes for no real reason then the general public may not treat you with such contempt, just saying.

Unite Union slams Labour Minister Lord Adonis and then campaigns for erm, Labour

Am I really the only one that doesn't understand the mentality of the Unions and their relationship with the Labour Party?

British Airways are currently dealing with Unite on trying to negotiate a pay deal between BA and their staff, Unite have today criticised Labour Minister, Lord Adonis but then, send out letters, such as this one below all over the place persuading people to vote Labour!

I don't understand how unions can be so bloody hypocritical and claim to stand up for the people who work in the industries that Labour clash with, then they give millions of pounds to the very same Labour party to introduce the legislation that keeps unions negotiating with business.

Just imagine living in London, working for BA and then getting a copy of the letter above!  I certainly would be very angry.  It appears that biggest threat to job security in this day and age is the Labour Party, the one and same that Unite and other unions fund each and every year.
